Who are we?
Stars of Hope is dedicated to bringing hope and a brighter future to Ugandans. Our mission is to transform lives through education and poverty alleviation. We provide school sponsorships, host community events, run training programs, and distribute essential items such as food and clothing. While our work is based in Uganda, we are headquartered in Australia.
Founded by Edwin Businge from Fort Portal, Uganda, and James Temme from the Gold Coast, Australia, Stars of Hope was born from a shared passion for education. Despite their different backgrounds, Edwin and James are united in their commitment to ensuring as many children as possible receive an education. Edwin, who lost both parents at a young age, once had little hope for his future. Thanks to a school sponsorship, he not only completed his education but also became school captain in his final year. James met Edwin in Mozambique in 2010 and has been working with him in Africa ever since.
Our core mission is to provide full school sponsorships for African children, covering tuition, uniforms, books, bags, shoes, meals, and other school essentials. Currently, we support over 70 students through the Stars of Hope program, with the goal of reaching even more.
We are a registered Australian charity with DGR status, ensuring all donations go directly toward changing lives.
