About Us

Stars of Hope exists to provide Ugandans with hope for a brighter future. We have a deep desire to see as many lives as possible transformed through education and the alleviation of poverty. Our focus areas include providing school sponsorships for children, hosting community events and running a variety of training courses. We also distribute food, clothing and other essential items. Our work is focused in Uganda and we are based in Australia.

Stars of Hope was founded by Edwin Businge from Fort Portal, Uganda and James Temme from the Gold Coast, Australia. Although coming from very different backgrounds, Edwin and James share the common goal of seeing as many children as possible receive an education. Edwin lost both of his parents at a young age and had little hope for a bright future. Because he received a school sponsorship, Edwin was able to not only complete his schooling but became school captain in his final year. James has been working with Edwin in Africa for several years, after meeting him in Mozambique in 2010.

Our primary focus is to provide full school sponsorships for African children. We cover the cost of tuition, uniforms, books, bags, shoes, lunches and any other schooling necessities. We currently have over 70 students in our Stars of Hope program. Our goal is to help as many children as possible. We are a registered Australian charity with DGR status.
